What information this site collects, where it goes, and how to ask for it to be corrected or removed.

This is the personal website of author Steffan Berg. This page explains what information the site collects, where that information goes, and what you can ask me to do with it.
When you sign up for my newsletter, your email address is sent to MailerLite, the service that delivers it. MailerLite asks you to confirm your subscription before you are added — the "double opt-in" email — and handles your address under its own privacy policy. My database also keeps a short log of each signup attempt (the email address and whether the signup succeeded) so I can troubleshoot delivery problems. When you confirm your subscription, your address is also logged so each confirmation is only counted once. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.
When you send a message through the contact form, the name, email address, subject, and message you enter are stored in a private database (Cloudflare D1) so I can read and respond. They are used for nothing else, and they are never added to a mailing list.
Sometimes I email subscribers a link to a short survey — a vote on cover art, for example. The link is personal to you. Opening it checks your address against my newsletter list, so only current subscribers can answer. If you send an answer, your email address is stored in a private database (Cloudflare D1) with your answers and the time you sent them. I keep your address so I know who wrote which comment and can reply if you asked me something. You can reopen the same link to change your answer, and the database records that you revised it.
I am the only person who reads survey responses. The summary emails and tallies I use to follow results identify each response by a scrambled code; they do not include your address.
The newsletter signup, the contact form, and reader surveys are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that submissions come from a person rather than a bot. As part of that check, your IP address is forwarded to Cloudflare for verification. I do not store it.
The site uses Umami, a cookieless analytics service, to count page views. It records aggregate statistics — which pages are visited and the general region visitors come from — without cookies, fingerprinting, or cross-site tracking, and it cannot identify you personally. When a newsletter signup succeeds or is confirmed, the site records an anonymous event. These events never include your email address or anything you submitted.
The site stores one item in your browser's localStorage: your light-or-dark theme preference. The cookie policy has the details.
Contact messages, newsletter signup logs, and survey responses are kept for as long as I need them to respond to you and to keep the newsletter and surveys running. If you want something deleted sooner, ask and I will remove it.

This site is not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the site, contact me and I will delete it.
